Introduction
Trekking in the Everest region is always spectacular.
The trek from Kharta to Kangshung Glacier and the Kangshung Face base camp of Everest provides
stunning views of the Everest East Face. This is an strenuous 9-day trek over two high passes -
the Langma La, at 5330m (17,487ft), and the Shao La, 4970m (16,306ft). The region from Kharta to the Kama Valley
further south constitutes the watershed of the Arun River in Nepal and is part of
the blessed land of Guru Rinpoche known as "Beyul Khebalung" or the hidden valley.
This region possesses a number of holy lakes, mountains and the sacred "Kharta Thechu"
or the long-life spring water.
You will find some of the grandest Himalayan sceneries on this spectacular trek,
which takes you along steep-sided valleys and glacial lakes. In the summer the
magnificent grassland flowers are in bloom in the remote Kangshung valley,
which is also dubbed the Valley of Flowers.
At the end of the trek, our guide will take you to the Everest north
base camp as well. Views of Everest's sheer north face is just
amazing.
Before the trek, you will be able to get a taste of the exotic
atmosphere of a mix of temple, pilgrims, butter lamp smell, colorful
prayer-flags, in the heart and soul of Tibet - Lhasa.
